Privacy Policy

The handling of any personal information collected by AMCA complies with the Privacy Act 1988.

Personal information is any information that may be used to identify you and includes health information and sensitivity information. AMCA is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information that it collects.

AMCA adheres to the Australian Privacy Principles in the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. It collects personal information from you for the purpose of your membership of the AMCA, and to provide information and education about medicinal cannabis, as may be relevant. The personal information we may collect from you will vary depending on the nature of your relationship with the AMCA (viz whether you are a member, employee or subscriber to our website).

We will usually collect personal information directly from you, but sometimes we may collect it from a third party, although we will only collect it from a third party if you have consented to its collection or its collection is otherwise required but law. Importantly we only collect personal information if it is reasonably necessary to further AMCA’s objectives and mission.

We may use your personal information to:

  • enrol you as a member and maintain your membership with us;
  • provide information and education to you about AMCA and its activities, and to further the interests of the medicinal cannabis industry in Australia; 
  • provide education about medicinal cannabis which you are entitled to as a member cannabis and awareness; 
  • provide information to you about AMCA services and activities which may benefit its members; or 
  • respond to any questions you may have.


We may also use your personal information for a purpose which is directly related to any of the 
above purposes.

Personal information will not be disclosed to third parties without your permission, except where permitted or required under the Privacy Act. Your personal information will only be held by AMCA on its databases, and will not be disclosed to third parties overseas.

Wherever possible, we will try and de-identify your personal information before it is used.

You are entitled to access any personal information that we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct any incorrect personal information that we may hold about you. You can also ask us to delete any of your personal information by submitting a request to us in writing.
